About Us
Dear Customer,
Thank you for shopping at C.I.B. Media. Our market niche is our
unique identification, marketing and packaging of products on a "unit-specific"
or "battle-specific" basis, which means we are constantly searching
for new military unit and battle history books and videos to offer (select recent
additions above).
Customers often ask if I am a veteran and how I got started in
the military history business. I was drafted in '67 during my second year of
college and served without distinction as an enlisted man. The shortage of lieutenants
as a result of their high casualty rate during Tet '68 brought me a nomination
for OCS and a chance to be a statistic.
After
a total of 3 years active duty and excellent training both stateside and in
Panama, I volunteered for Vietnam where I proudly served with 11th Armored Cavalry
Regiment - The BLACKHORSE - as an Armored Cav
recon platoon leader. I was just an average platoon leader at best, but I loved
my men and I did the best job I could. Lots of firefights and two Purple Hearts
later, I was promoted to Captain.
In November 1972, after nearly six years on active duty and several
corrective surgeries on my wounds, I was medically retired with the permanent
rank of Captain. I then entered the business world and also completed my education
at Saint Marys College, graduating as Class Valedictorian with a degree in Business
Management.
Fifteen years after the War, Vietnam veterans were starting to
come out of their bunkers. I attended a reunion in '85 and became reacquainted
with men I knew from 'Nam. Most of us want historical
information on our unit - The Blackhorse - but we could not find any. Thus
the idea for C.I.B. Media was born, thanks to my friends in the 11th Armored
Cavalry Veterans & Cambodia.
We all thank you for your business.
