Flame Dragons of the Korean War:First Tank Battalion, First Marine Division, who did not meet until almost 50 years after what went down in history as the Forgotten War.
This documents a little-known, but significant, part of the Korean War, told by the men of the Flame Platoon, and others who fought with them. It is a book on behalf of one of the most unique combat units in United States Marine Corps history.
Flame Tankers, like many Korean War comrades, have had very little to say in the past. Following the example of their predecessors from World War II, they just tried to do their jobs. They came home without any fanfare to reunite with loved ones, go back to work, marry and raise families. Even to those closest to them, most never talked much, if at all, about their experiences in Korea. Maybe that’s why it quickly became The Forgotten War.
