About the Author, Charles Lane Toomey
Charles Lane Toomey, a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, served in the U.S. Army for more than twenty-five years in a variety of command and staff positions. He was an XVIII Airborne Corps plans officer during Operation Desert Storm in the first Gulf War. He retired a lieutenant colonel in 2000 and currently resides in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
